Thinking of Selling?
By tahoe-truckeerealestate-com May 09, 2019

Here are 7 easy steps you can take to make your home stand out from the rest!

Closely Scrutinize Your Curb Appeal

First impressions are everything to potential buyers. Cleaning up the outside can make the biggest difference.
1) During the winter make sure all areas of the driveway, walkways and decks are accessible and cleared of snow.
2) During the spring and summer months, spruce up the exterior of your home by hiring a painting company to freshen up the exterior paint/stain. 3) Do some light landscaping such as clearing pine needles and adding potted plants to brighten things up.

Make Every Surface Shine

Consider hiring a professional house cleaner to clean your home from top to bottom, and even a professional carpet or window cleaner as well. This will freshen up the interior and get rid of any unpleasant odors.

Remove Clutter and “Depersonalize”

Buyers want to envision their belongings in your home.
Help them do this by following these simple rules:
1) Remove Clutter – this includes items from the inside of showers and tubs like shampoos, soaps, towels, removing books and knick-knacks from bookcases and shelves, etc.
2) Three is Key – Leave no more than 3 items on counter spaces in the kitchens, bathrooms, etc.
3) Pack away the memories – Depersonalize by packing away personal or family photos, removing books from personal knick-knacks and effects.
4) Essential items you use daily can be tucked away in small boxes that you can place in a closet when they’re not in use. Think of this process as a head start on the packing you’ll eventually have to do anyway.

Make Minor Repairs

Replace cracked floor or counter tiles, grout, and patch any holes in the walls. Touch-up paint, fix leaky faucets and doors that don’t close properly, as well as kitchen drawers that jam.
Replace burned-out lightbulbs and consider replacing those that have been in service for a while as well.
Replace smoke detectors and CO Detectors (one on each level of your home) and make sure your water heater has seismic strapping in place, as these will be required items when you sell your home.
